Every time you open a website, search for information, stream a video, send a message, or download a file, many technologies work together behind the scenes.
Internet & How the Web Works takes you beyond simply using the internet and helps you understand what actually happens when your device goes online.
How does a browser find the website you typed? What is the difference between the internet and the World Wide Web? Why do websites have domain names and IP addresses? What does DNS do? How does information travel across networks? Why can a video start playing before the entire file has downloaded? And what does HTTPS actually protect when you visit a website?
Through practical questions and familiar online situations, you'll explore the technologies that make everyday internet experiences possible. You'll learn how browsers, websites, web servers, domain names, DNS, IP addresses, routers, Wi-Fi, HTTP, HTTPS, cookies, caching, bandwidth, latency, uploads, downloads, streaming, search engines, and data packets work together.
The questions aren't limited to definitions. You'll encounter situations such as having strong Wi-Fi but no internet connection, experiencing buffering during a video, seeing a website return an error, noticing that a previously visited page loads faster, or wondering how a website remembers your preferences.
As the questions progress, you'll start connecting the pieces—from your device and home network to internet infrastructure, servers, and finally the webpage appearing on your screen.
The goal is simple: make the internet you use every day easier to understand.
Whether you're a student building digital knowledge, a beginner exploring computer networking, or simply curious about what happens behind the browser, this quiz turns everyday internet use into an opportunity to learn how the connected world actually works.
