Quiz overview

Mobile & OTP scams

The Mobile & OTP Scams quiz zone is designed to help you recognize scams that attempt to steal authentication codes, compromise mobile accounts, manipulate victims over phone calls or messages, or gain unauthorized access to banking and payment services.

Through realistic, scenario-based questions, you'll learn about OTP fraud, fake bank calls, SIM swap scams, mobile number takeover, malicious apps, screen-sharing scams, remote-access fraud, fake customer-care calls, SMS phishing, call-forwarding scams, verification-code theft, suspicious app permissions, and other mobile-based fraud techniques.

What You'll Learn

Learn why an OTP (One-Time Password) should be treated as confidential authentication information and why legitimate organizations generally won't ask you to disclose an OTP that authorizes a sensitive action or transaction.

You'll learn how fraudsters use urgency, fear, authority, and convincing stories to persuade victims to reveal OTPs. A scammer may claim that your bank account will be blocked, your KYC needs immediate verification, a suspicious transaction must be cancelled, a refund is waiting, or your account needs urgent security verification.

The quizzes will help you recognize these manipulation techniques and understand why you should independently verify unexpected requests instead of following instructions provided by an unknown caller or message.

Protect Your Mobile Number

Your mobile number can be closely connected to your banking accounts, UPI services, passwords, and account-recovery systems.

Scammers may attempt a SIM swap or mobile number takeover to gain control of calls and SMS messages associated with your number. Unexpected loss of mobile network service, especially when combined with unfamiliar account activity or authentication alerts, deserves immediate attention.

You'll learn what warning signs to watch for and why contacting your mobile operator and affected financial institutions through their official channels can be important when suspicious activity occurs.

Beware of Remote-Access and Screen-Sharing Scams

A person claiming to be from a bank, payment service, telecom provider, government department, or customer-support team may ask you to install an application to "verify your account," "fix a problem," or "process a refund."

Installing unknown applications or granting screen-sharing, accessibility, SMS, notification, or remote-control permissions can expose sensitive information or give a fraudster dangerous control over your device.

These quizzes teach you to recognize suspicious requests and understand the risks associated with granting powerful mobile permissions to unknown people or applications.

Think Before You Share an OTP

Receiving an OTP doesn't mean you should automatically enter or share it.

Before using any authentication code, understand what action the OTP is authorizing. Carefully read the complete message, check the transaction or request details, and never provide an OTP to someone simply because they claim to need it for verification.

Be especially suspicious when someone pressures you to act immediately or asks you to ignore security warnings contained in an OTP message.

Stay Alert to Mobile Scam Warning Signs

Unexpected OTPs you didn't request, sudden loss of mobile network connectivity, unfamiliar login alerts, repeated authentication requests, suspicious SMS links, requests to install applications, instructions to change phone settings, or callers asking for confidential information can all indicate potential fraud.

When something seems suspicious, don't rely on the phone number, link, or contact details supplied by the caller or message. Independently contact your bank, payment provider, telecom operator, or other organization through its official app, website, or verified support channel.

If you believe your banking or mobile account has been compromised, act quickly. Secure affected accounts, contact the relevant service providers, preserve suspicious messages and transaction information, and report financial fraud to the appropriate cybercrime authorities.

Test Your Mobile & OTP Scam Awareness

The Mobile & OTP Scams quizzes go beyond simply telling you never to share an OTP. Each scenario helps you understand why an authentication request appeared, what a scammer may be attempting, which warning signs matter, and what action you should take next.

Test your awareness with Vivid Quiz and build safer mobile habits that can help protect your bank accounts, UPI accounts, mobile number, authentication codes, personal information, and digital identity from fraud.
